Openground Mindfulness Weekend Retreat
May 8, 2015 - May 10, 2015
Don’t meditate to fix yourself, to heal yourself, to improve yourself, to redeem yourself; rather, do it as an act of love, of deep warm friendship to yourself. In this way there is no longer any need for the subtle aggression of self-improvement, for the endless guilt of not doing enough. It offers the possibility of an end to the ceaseless round of trying so hard that wraps so many people’s lives in a knot. Instead there is now meditation as an act of love. How endlessly delightful and encouraging. Bob Sharples, Calming the Mind
During the retreat we will be spending time coming home to the body, the heart and the mind – through the practices of mindfulness. It is an opportunity for the sustained practice of bringing curiosity and compassion to everything that arises, and to notice what happens when we do this. We will be using journaling to explore the unfolding of practice over the weekend.
The retreat will be largely in silence, but with opportunities for interviews with the teacher, talks and discussions about our practice in the group.
It is suitable for people who have some experience of mindfulness already.
